WATERTOWN, S.D. – A dedication ceremony has been held on more than 26,000 square feet of new construction that will serve as a state-of-the-art learning environment for diesel technology students at Lake Area Technical College in Watertown.

The building will be known as the Ace A. Brandt Diesel Center.

College president Tiffany Sanderson said there were many people who made the project possible – most notably, the late Ace Brandt of Fargo.

Tyler Brandt spoke about his brother at the event.

“He loved coming in and seeing the technicians,” Brandt said. “He loved talking to the parts people. He wanted to make sure the customers were getting the best service they could possibly get. It was something that made him very proud.”

The Ace A. Brandt Diesel Center includes lab space, classrooms, and a wash bay for the large diesel equipment.

Brandt was president and board chairman of Brandt Holdings, which has businesses, real estate, agriculture, and industrial equipment dealerships in the region. He died of brain cancer two years ago at age 60.
