Soil Health in the Classroom

Agronomy students at Northeast Iowa Community College were able to see first-hand the importance of protecting soil and water resources.  Neil Sass, Area Resource Soil Scientist, and Angie Freilinger, Soil Health Specialist with USDA-NRCS, used a rainfall simulator to demonstrate how rainwater infiltration and runoff is impacted by different soil management systems. The simulator is an impactful reminder of the importance of soil health.
