Richland And NRCS Receive Congressional Applause

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill) today applauded that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) has partnered with Richland Community College to teach agriculture conservation. Richland was one of nine community colleges to join the Community College Alliance for Agriculture Advancement (C2A3). The goal of the alliance is to support hands-on student learning about conservation and to foster conservation-minded farmers and ranchers.

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill) today applauded that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) has partnered with Richland Community College to teach agriculture conservation. Richland was one of nine community colleges to join the Community College Alliance for Agriculture Advancement (C2A3). The goal of the alliance is to support hands-on student learning about conservation and to foster conservation-minded farmers and ranchers.

“Community colleges like Richland are the perfect place for agriculture conservation to be taught to current and future generations of farmers,” said Davis. “This is positive news for the Illinois Ag community and I look forward to seeing the benefits reaped down the road.”

“This partnership provides the necessary framework to work together on common needs from a national perspective while also providing the flexibility to address local concerns,” said Jimmy Bramblett, deputy chief of programs for NRCS. “The more successful we are, the more likely we are to drive further innovation and adoption of practices and to impact the long-term sustainability of our nation’s resources.”

“Richland Community College is just across the street from our Decatur field office and the Farm Progress show site. We’re proud of the long history we’ve had working together,” said State Conservationist Ivan Dozier, Illinois NRCS. “Moving this partnership to a more formal level is sure to lead to even greater things – and serve as a model for other community colleges in Illinois.”
